1970 Nova – Jimmy ‘The Tater’ Matthews

“It Handles like it is on rails. The TCI coilovers and Torque Arm rear suspension is phenomenal and it stops on a dime with those Wilwood brakes.”

  • About

  • Jimmy Matthews 1970 Nova is one of a kind. Just like the man behind the wheel. Jimmy aka "The Tater" was a special human. Always willing to help out a friend or competitor. He'd drop everything he was doing if someone was in need.
  • We met Jimmy aka 'Tater' over 10 years ago when he was working for Charlotte Rod & Custom. He was much more than a teammate. Over the years he became part of the TCI family. He was always willing to help, whether it was another teammate, random stranger or even a competitor. He would be the first one to roll up his sleeves and jump in to fix a problem. Then be the last to leave making sure everything was taken care of.
  • He had a raw & honest personality that let you know if he was by your side, he had your back. He was a blast to be around with his infinite list of one liners.
  • Tater lived life a day at a time. He enjoyed every minute of his racing adventures. Even when he was killing cones he was enjoying himself. Because of his giving personality he won the "Spirit of the Event" award at a #USCA event in 2016. Which earned him a trip to Las Vegas for the finale. He & his Wife Sheila came out & had a blast. Tater was high on life that week and for many weeks after.
  • Please join us in remembering a great man, teammate, racer, competitor, husband, father & friend.
