2026 DriveAutoExtreme West Event #1 @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway

2026 DriveAutoXtreme Autocross West Event #1 – A collaboration between FM3 Marketing’s DriveAutoX series and The Racing Byrds AutoXtreme series. Thanks to SummitRacing for making this series possible.

The first event in the West series was held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Jan 31st and Feb 1st 2026. AutoXtreme series Truck Class returning champion George Reiss would once again be piloting the wicked #TCIequipped ’73 C10 aka #SabotageC10. AutoXtreme Series returning Vintage champion Chad Ryker would once again be piloting TCI’s ’67 Mustang. Both the Truck and Vintage classes came down to the final laps late in the season in 2025. With Team TCI drivers vying for the top spots in both classes the championship was decided by seconds over 100+ laps. This is what makes the ruleset in this series so tough. You must stay off the cones all year and you definitely can’t DNF if you want to have any hope at the top spot in each class.

The ’67 Mustang owned by Ed Moss, TCI’s Founder and President had received some off-season love. Including a transmission swap and a new control unit for the MK60 based ABS. With no time to test the new parts the car was loaded and sent to Vegas. The ABS was still non functional but in typical Chad fashion he made the car work. Not only pulling out the GTV Class win on Saturday but he was also the Overall fastest average for the weekend and took the Top spot in the GTV Shootout. With that, comes another milestone for Chad and this car. He was the first driver in this new series to garner 60 points (50 Overall fastest average + 10 for the Shootout win) at a single event. We’re venturing a guess that no other GTV car/driver will accomplish this same feat. Chad proves once again that he is the guy to beat.

Coming into the ’26 season Ed may have been feeling some pressure due to the fact that Wally Logan’s ’68 Camaro would be entering the ring. Barry’s Speed Shop out of Corona, CA had been thrashing to get Wally’s Camaro ready in time for the 1st event. Wally and our Marketing Director Jason Wilcox would co-drive the car. Going into Sunday, Jason was leading in averages but a pair of cones cost him the class weekend average win. Wally would qualify 5th for the Shootout and make it to the Semi-Finals where he lost to Chad in the Mustang. Chad and Jason faced off in the final where Chad took the win in a best out of 3 match up.

Tom Kamman was in a borrowed car for the 1st event due to issues getting parts in time for his ’76 Trans-Am. George Reiss was gracious enough to let him drive the tried and true #BlueThunder ’69 Camaro. It took Tom a few laps to get acclimated to the new car and start to pick up the pace. He pulled out 2nd place finishes each day and qualified 3rd for the Shootout. Unfortunately, a cone kick in the shootout took him out first round. Chris Stoner would also jump in Blue Thunder on day two. Chris drove this car last year so he has more seat time in it. Chris would end up rounding out an all TCI podium on Sunday.

With the introduction of the GRV (Grass Roots Vintage) class we were excited to see what Andy Mule could do in his ’66 Nova. This car normally runs 285 front tires but class rules only allow up to 275’s instead. There are no nannies (ABS or Traction Control) allowed in this new class which was perfect for the little Nova. Andy finished 2nd on Saturday and qualified 2nd for the shootout. In the shootout he made it to the final round and lost to James Eaton in the Fox Body Mustang.

We love Doug Bailey’s #TCIequipped ’69 Mustang and we know that he is having the time of his life behind the wheel. Doug finished in 6th place in GRV both days. Unfortunately, a mechanical issue kept him from running in the shootout.

In the GTT (Truck) class we had George Reiss back to defend his title from 2025 in #SabotageC10. George placed 2nd on Saturday and 1st on Sunday. He also qualified 2nd for the Shootout where he had to run best out of 3 against David Carroll. In one of the closest finishes of the weekend George also finished 2nd in the shootout.

We’ll be back in Vegas Feb 28th and March 1st for Round 2. Each of these GTV competitors are making changes to their vehicles and Chris Stoner will debut his new 2nd Gen Camaro. We’re looking forward to the progression of each of these Team Drivers and vehicles. For the full schedule of both West and East series click HERE.
