2021 NMCA #3 – Sal driving our ’71 Camaro aka #ProjectReddawn takes home two plaques
The epic battle between Sal in Reddawn and Efrain driving Ed’s ’67 Mustang ended with Sal coming out on top both days. Sal came out swinging early on Saturday and quickly took the lead in Classic Muscle with a 44.738 on his 3rd lap of the day. Efrain also came out early and laid down his best lap on his 3rd try, a 44.929 which was enough to win the Classic Muscle Pro class. Bragging rights go to Sal for Saturday.
Sunday would unfold a little different. While Efrain ran his quickest lap on his 3rd try again, a 46.595, Sal wouldn’t come around until the 2nd session. Where he laid down a 46.536 just barely squeaking out the win in the Pro Class on Sunday. Once again bragging rights going to Sal driving the Chevy.
The ‘Kid’ Harrison Beach, piloting his ’64 Nova Wagon had an incredible weekend as well. This was his 3rd weekend in a row wheeling the car and you could see that the seat time made a difference. On Saturday he laid a down a bunch on solid laps but on his final lap of the day he jumped to the 4th position. On Sunday there was a different aura about him. There was this confidence that I’ve never seen in him before. Usually collected and calm you could tell he was hungry for a win. On his 6th lap of the day he put down what would have been the quickest Classic Muscle lap out of anyone. That is until we noticed a course worker trotting out to replace a kicked cone. While he did not win he landed in 3rd and gained even more confidence that he belongs at the top of this group.
