2020 NMCA #5 – Sal & Efrain come away with wins in Classic Muscle & Classic Muscle Pro
Our VP of Operations Sal Solorzano came out swinging Saturday morning. On only his 2nd lap of the day he moved into 1st place in Classic Muscle. As the day progressed he not only stayed in 1st but opened up the gap even further as he got faster and faster.
Efrain Diaz and Sal Solorzano were to try something a little different for this event. To go back a few events Efrain felt that his car was not performing as well as our own #ProjectReddawn. So these two decided that they would switch vehicles for one day. This would give Sal a chance to drive and tune Efrain’s #Poledancer ’69 Camaro and make chassis adjustments to maximize the set-up. Efrain ended up winning the Classic Muscle Pro class behind the wheel of #projectreddawn with a 47.132 lap. This time was simply incredible. This made him the 5th fastest car at the event, behind the likes of seasoned drivers behind the wheel of a Lamborghini, and a GT3 RS. He also captured the coveted “Fastest on Wilwood Brakes” award. Because it was October and Breats Cancer awareness month the trophy (caliper) was pink which holds a special place in Efrain’s heart. Here’s where things turned interesting though. At the end of the day, as sponsors of the NMCA event we are allowed to do some “Fun Runs”. Efrain climbed into his own car #Poledancer and took a few laps. He ended up running a 47.001. Even faster than what he had run in Reddawn. We’re excited to see what Efrain can accomplish with his new found enthusiasm and confidence for his old #poledancer.

With just one event left we have class titles in the balance in both Classic Muscle & Truck. The 2020 NMCA #5 event proved to be a challenge for the title contenders and cones were hit and dnf’s were handed out. The final event takes place mid December so everyone has time to prepare for the final battle.
